About
Emily Martin is a performer, educator, and program designer whose work focuses on helping artists build sustainable careers in a rapidly changing cultural and technological landscape. With over three decades of experience as an opera singer, university professor, and arts leader, she develops interdisciplinary programs that connect artistic practice with entrepreneurship, wellness, and innovation.
Martin is the Ellen P. Williams Associate Professor of Music at Bucknell University, where she directs the Bucknell Voice Lab and serves as Faculty Fellow for the Perricelli-Gegnas Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation. Her teaching and program design integrate performance training with career development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and public-facing creative work, preparing students for flexible and evolving professional paths.
In 2020, she co-founded em2CONNECT, a consulting practice that supports artists, educators, and arts organizations through workshops, curriculum design, and collaborative projects focused on creative career development and new models of arts education. Through this work, she has led residencies, masterclasses, and program initiatives internationally.
Martin was awarded a Fulbright U.S. Scholar grant to the Netherlands (2022–2023), where she worked with faculty and students at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague on entrepreneurship, career development, and new approaches to artistic training. Her current research and creative work examine how artists adapt to changing economic, technological, and institutional conditions while maintaining meaningful creative practice.
She has additional training in vocology through the Summer Vocology Institute at the University of Utah and incorporates principles of vocal health, movement, and mental resilience into her work with performers.
Martin is currently pursuing an MSc in Innovation & Entrepreneurship at HEC Paris, expanding her work at the intersection of the arts, technology, and program design. Her current projects focus on developing initiatives that connect artists, educators, and organizations in building new pathways for creative work in the twenty-first century.
